Transfer a Credit or Payment Between Accounts

The account you are transferring the credit to must have an owing balance. If they do not have an owing balance, you will need to place a patient note reminding you of the credit for the patient’s next visit.

Description

While there isn’t a direct adjustment type to transfer a credit or payment between 2 patient accounts, this can still be accomplished by using other adjustment types to make changes to the 2 patients balances.

Step-by-Step

Transfer From Account
  1. Open the patient in Transactions.
  2. Select the Adjustments Tab.
  3. Select the New button on the right hand side.
  1. Set the Adjustment Type form with:
    – Adjustment Type: Patient
    – Balance: Increase
    – Code: RP $-Refund Payment
    – Amount: The dollar amount you’d like to transfer
  2. Select the Save button.
  1. Select a treatment line from the claim the over payment or credit occurred, fill in the Apply Amt, then select the Apply button.  (repeat on additional treatments until the entire refund amount is used)
  2. Select the OK button.
Transfer To Account
  1. Open the patient in Transactions.
  2. Select the Adjustments Tab.
  3. Select the New button on the right hand side.
  1. Set the Adjustment Type form with:
    – Adjustment Type: Patient
    – Balance: Decrease
    – Code: PRE $-Payment Re-Entry
    – Amount: The dollar amount you’d like to transfer
  2. Select the Save button.
  1. Select a treatment line from the claim the over payment or credit occurred, fill in the Apply Amt, then select the Apply button.  (repeat on additional treatments until the entire re-entry amount is used)
  2. Select the OK button.
