Our next example will report on Adjustments used within a given date range.
We want to report on all the different types of Adjustments issued, tallying each type using the Detail Operation.
We will need to build this report under the Billing Tab again, but this time we will use the Adjustments Category.
This example will focus on Operations and Sorting order, given that the default Selected columns in this Category are so useful.
Creating the Report:
We will begin by selecting the appropriate Tab and Category, then setup our date range filter.
Setting up Counting Operations:
With the date filter set, our next priority is enabling the Count and Sum operations on the required columns.
The steps above will produce a total count of all results listed. The Detail function ensures that we also get sub-counts for each type of adjustment listed.
Now that our results will abide by the treatment date range and counted up, we should ensure our report will also sum up the costs of our adjustment codes.
Continuing our work in the same Edit Report window:
The steps above will sum up all of our results to produce a total dollar value at the end of the report. The Detail operation ensures we get a sum for each type of Adjustment as well, to understand how each contributed to the total amount at the end.
Setting up Sorting Order:
To properly organize and tally our results, we will need to work with the Sort By box.
We are now sorting our results exclusively by Adjustment Code. All like-codes will be bundled together, enabling accurate count and sum functions.
If setup incorrectly and left to sort by last name, the report would return results with no codes grouped together. This would result in the count function listing a number “1” under each line as it attempts to count up the use of each code. With no groupings by code similarity, the report will fail to add up our codes used. See the image below for reference.
With our parameters set and our count functions enabled, we are ready to generate the report.
Use the Search button at the top right to see your results. Your report should resemble the image below.
This example required very few changes be made to the Selected box. Instead, we focused on sorting and applying operations to our active fields. The count operations set on the adjustment code field produces the bold number indicating the number of results listed. The Sum operation enabled on the Adjustment Total field is responsible for the bold, summed up values after each grouping of codes.
The results you see below are entirely dependent on the Sorting order and Detail/Total operations in use, so be sure to think those through or give us a call at support if you are unsure of how or where to apply the Operations to achieve the intended results.
